Jane Goodall’s Favorite Animal Isn’t What You Think

When you think of Jane Goodall, you probably picture her with chimpanzees. But here’s a fun twist — Jane Goodall’s actual favorite animal is the dog.

That’s right. The world-famous primatologist has said, loud and clear, that dogs hold the top spot in her heart. In fact, for her 90th birthday this year, she celebrated with a 90-dog salute on the beach — a joyful, chaotic gathering of goldendoodles, Great Danes, chihuahuas and other dog varieties, all romping in her honor.

If you need a smile today, check out this New York Times article about the party.

If something happened to you today, would anyone know what to do for your dog?

Whether it’s a last-minute hospital stay, an unexpected emergency, or even a planned vacation, most of us don’t have a clear set of instructions ready for the person who would step in to help. That’s why I created a Pet Information Sheet — a simple, fillable form that captures everything someone needs to know to care for your dog, from food preferences to quirky habits.

Download the Pet Information Sheet.

Filling it out only takes a few minutes, but it could make a huge difference— for your dog and for the friends and family trying to help.

Bonus: It’s also perfect to leave with dog sitters!

If Jane Goodall can make time to celebrate 90 dogs at 90 years old, we can spend 10 minutes making sure ours are cared for in a pinch.
